Alpine-hay flame resistant

Not only hand-cut alpine-hay from the Tyrolean mountains, but also 40 other organoid products have been optimized in the last few months and tested for their fire resistance by the IBS Institute for Fire Protection Technology and Safety Research.

22 products are now classified as hardly inflammable according to EN 13501-1, including 10 products classified as
B-s1, d0. Important for the classification is the density of natural material applied to the backing material flax fleece or eco-fleece.

No flame retardant impregnation or lacquer was applied to the surfaces. With these compact surfaces, the very good fire resistance is due to the relatively low amount of raw material and the high pressure.

Two tests had to be passed.

The test was set up in accordance with EN 13501-1 in such a way that our products were processed with a standard wallpaper paste on an A2 plasterboard and then tested in two test arrangements. The results from this led to the classification.

In the small flame test, surface flame exposure was carried out with a 20 mm flame from a rotatable burner over a period of 30 seconds. The discoloration at the flame point, the maximum height of the flame, the times of ignition and self-extinguishing and afterglow were recorded.

During the SBI test (Single Burning Item Test according to EN 13823) in a large test setup, the following results were recorded: the flame spread, the flammability, the amount of heat, smoke and toxic gases and whether the product peeled off, melted, dripped or charred.

The result is highly satisfactory.
