ORGANOID IS CLIMATE-POSITIVE

More and more industry sectors are talking about ‘carbon footprints’. This means the traces or ‘footprints’ a company emits into the environment during its production process. Clients and contractors are becoming more aware of the sustainability of companies, products and services.  

To measure the impact of companies and products on the environment, the amount of CO2 released during the production process is measured by an independent authority. During the process, each activity necessary for manufacturing a product is assigned an emission factor.

The emission factors result from our honest statements concerning energy used, amounts of waste, commuting distance and business trips. Even the amount of paper used is factored in. This results in the specific carbon footprint of the products and the company as such. Even with a huge effort towards sustainability the goal of a ‘zero carbon production’ cannot be reached throughout the year. Therefore we compensate the inevitable remaining emissions by engaging in regional and international climate protection projects. This way Organoid is operating carbon-neutral!

Organoid® natural surfaces also binding CO2.

One thing which is not factored into the annual carbon footprint calculation is the amount of CO2 which plants used in the production process are binding.  

One metric ton of hay binds appx. 1500 kg of carbon dioxide. In 2019 Organoid hast used around 28 tons of hay for its natural surfaces – with a strong upward tendency. As a result, the natural surfaces made from hay (WILDSPITZE, ALMWIESN etc.) produced during one year alone were binding more than 42 000 kg of CO2. This is far north of the calculated CO2 emission of all necessary production processes. Therefore Organoid products can not only be labeled carbon-neutral, but also carbon-positive.

 In comparison:
A new car emits 0,123 kg of CO2 per kilometer in average.[1]
The annual production of Organoid’s hay surfaces results in binding the CO2 emission of 340 000 km driven!
