Data privacy statement

Your privacy is important to us. To inform you about the use of your personal data we would like you to
acknowledge the following data protection notice. We are processing your data solely based on legal regulations (DSGVO, TKG 2003).

GENERAL

In case you are getting in contact with us (via personal contact, telephone, post, email or website) your data will be stored in order to process your request and in case of follow-up questions. We will not reveal this data to third parties without your consent. Should your request result in a business relationship the legal retention period for deleting your files is applicable.

It is generally possible to use our website without entering personal data. If personal data (e.g. name, address or email address) is collected on our pages, this will always be on a voluntary basis, wherever possible. This data will not be forwarded to any third parties without your explicit consent. We would like to point out that data transfer via the internet (e.g. when communicating via email) may have security flaws. Flawless protection of your data against access by third parties is not possible.

WEB SERVER LOG

For smooth functioning and, if necessary, troubleshooting, web pages generally save logs on the web server where IP addresses are stored. Like many other companies, we operate our website on servers of a professional service provider. While IP addresses by themselves do not allow identifying a person, they could theoretically be associated with people using more elaborate tracking tools, but our website doesn’t. In the logs, the time, the browser type and the page visited are saved. These logs are periodically deleted after a maximum period of one month.

CONTACT FORM

If you send us queries using the contact form, your information in the query form and the contact data entered by you therein will be stored by us to process the request and in case of any follow-up questions. However, your request can only be used by you and sent to us electronically, if you explicitly agree to this data privacy and data usage statement by clicking on the button. We will not pass this data on without your consent.

COOKIES

Our website uses so-called cookies. These are small text files that are stored on your end device with the help of the browser. They do not cause damage. We use cookies to make our website user-friendly. Some cookies will remain stored on your end device until you delete them. They enable us to remember your browser the next time you visit. If you do not want this, you can set your browser so that it informs you about the placing of cookies, and so that you only allow this on a case-by-case basis. Deactivating cookies may limit the functionality of our website.

WEB ANALYSIS

Our website uses functions of website analysis services Google Analytics and Matomo. The provider of Google Analytics is Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. Matomo runs on the servers of Cookis GmbH, 6460 Imst, Franz Xaver Rennstrasse 4 (Bakehouse customers). For this purpose, cookies are used that enable users to use the website. The information thereby generated is transferred to the server of the respective provider, where it is stored.

You can prevent this by setting your browser so that no cookies are stored. Your IP address will be logged, but it will be immediately anonymised by deleting the last eight bits. Therefore, only a rough localisation is possible.

The data processing takes place on the basis of the statutory provisions of Section 96(3) TKG and Art. 6(1)(a) (consent) and/or (legitimate interests) GDPR.

Our concern within the scope of GDPR (legitimate interests) is to improve our services and our website. As the privacy of our users is important to us, the user data is pseudonymised.

When you visit our site, a direct connection will be established between your browser and the Facebook server via the plugin. Facebook will thereby receive notification that you have visited our site with your IP address. If you click on the Facebook “Like button” while you are logged into your Facebook account, you can link the content of our site to your Facebook profile. Facebook will therefore be able to match the visit to our site with your user account. NEWSLETTER

We are sending newsletters, emails and further electronic notifications of advertising nature (referred to “newsletter” below) only with consent of the addressee or with a legal permission. If, during the registration process of the newsletter, its content is described concretely, it is authoritative for the user’s consent. Furthermore our newsletters contain information about product developments, project presentations and event dates.

Double Opt-In and data log

For registration to our newsletter we are using the so-called double-opt-in method. This means you will receive an email after registration in which we ask you to confirm your subscription. This confirmation is necessary so no one can subscribe with the email address of a third party. The subscriptions to our newsletters are being recorded to prove evidence according to legal requirements. This includes the storage of the login- and confirmation time as well as the IP address. Changes to your data stored by MailChimp will be logged similarly.

Replacement of MailChimp as a service provider

The newsletter is sent via “MailChimp”, a newsletter platform provided by the US provider Rocket Science Group, LLC, 675 Ponce De Leon Ave NE #5000, Atlanta, GA 30308, USA. The e-mail addresses of our newsletter recipients, as well as their other information described in these notes, are stored on the servers of MailChimp in the USA. MailChimp is using this information to send and analyze the newsletters on our behalf. Furthermore, MailChimp may use this information for the purpose of optimizing or improving its own services. For example to technically optimize the delivery and layout of the newsletter or for economic purposes, to determine from which countries the recipients are coming from. However, MailChimp does not use the data of our newsletter recipients to contact them or hand it over to third parties.

We have faith in the reliability and the IT- and data integrity of MailChimp. MailChimp is certified under the USEU privacy agreement “Privacy Shield” and is therefore required to comply to all EU data protection requirements.
Furthermore, we have concluded a Data-Processing-Agreement with MailChimp. This is a contract in which MailChimp agrees to protect the data of our users, to process it in accordance with its privacy policy on our behalf and, in particular, not to hand it to third parties. The privacy policy of MailChimp can be viewed here.

Login data

To subscribe to the newsletter simply specify your email address. Optionally, we ask you to provide title, first and last name. This information is only for the personalization of the newsletter. Furthermore, we are asking you for optional information about your country, your preferred language version (German or English) and information on whether you are working as a journalist. We are using this information to align the content of the newsletter to the interests of our readers.

Statistical survey and analysis

The newsletters contain a so-called “web-beacon”, which is a pixel-sized file that is retrieved from the MailChimp server when the newsletter is opened.

During this initial download technical information is collected, such as information about the browser and your system, as well as your IP address and time of download. This information is used to improve the technical performance of services based on its specifications or its target groups and their reading habits, based on their locations (which can be determined using the IP address) or access time. Statistical surveys also include determination whether and when they are opened and which links are clicked. For technical reasons, this information can be assigned to the individual newsletter recipients. However, it is neither our ambition nor that of MailChimp to monitor individual users. These evaluations are rather serving us to determine the reading habits of our users and to adapt our content to it or to send a different content according to the interests of our users.

Retrieving newsletters online and data management

There are cases in which we direct the newsletter recipients to the MailChimp websites. Our newsletters contain a link that allows newsletter recipients to retrieve newsletters online (for example in the case of display problems in the e-mail program). Furthermore, newsletter recipients can edit their data, for example to correct the e-mail address subsequently. Furthermore, the privacy statement of MailChimp is only available on its page.
In this context, we are pointing out that cookies are being used on the websites of MailChimp and personal data is thereby processed by MailChimp, their partners and service providers (such as Google Analytics). We have no influence on this third-party data collection.
Further information can be obtained in the MailChimp privacy notice. We also refer to the possibility of objecting to data collection for advertising purposes on the websites http://www.aboutads.info/choices/ and
http://www.youronlinechoices.com/ (for Europe).

Termination and cancellation

You can cancel our newsletter at any time and revoke your compliance. At the same time, your consent to receiving emails and the statistical analysis via MailChimp is terminated. Unfortunately cancelling the email service and the statistical analysis via MailChimp separately is not possible. A link to cancel the newsletter can be found at the end of each newsletter.

YOUR RIGHTS

You have the fundamental right to information, correction, deletion, restriction, data transferability, cancellation and objection. If you believe that the processing of your data violates data protection law or that your legal data protection rights have been violated in any other way, you may make a complaint to the supervisory authority. In Austria, this is the Datenschutzbehörde [data protection authority].
