Valuable raw materials

We take great care when selecting our raw materials, because in terms of sustainability and quality we do not compromise. Our materials keep their natural characteristics when they are processed, which is why we only use finest materials –they will become a part of our customers’ lives.

Pure Nature

WITH THE USE OF PURE NATURAL MATERIALS

Our surfaces let you experience nature indoors. The materials used are of superior quality and natural, they look fascinating and smell fantastic. Each material has its own specific characteristics, which means we can find the right experience for everyone.

Pure Nature

WITH GENTLE PROCESSING

We process the raw materials carefully at our production site in the Austrian Alps. It is our ambition to manufacture our products in the gentlest way possible. This enables us to preserve the natural characteristics of the materials used. Our surfaces are always untreated and non-sealed and therefore completely natural.

TAKING RESPONSIBILITY

BY USING REGIONAL MATERIALS

We deeply care about the origin of our raw materials as well as our region, the Tyrolean Alps. That’s why we use 100% regional hay for our bestsellers. From the windows of our production site, we can see the slopes our farmers cultivate at rewarding conditions. This is how we help keep the century-old cultural landscape of the Austrian dry valleys alive.

You can find a report on our most important partners, the farmers of the Tyrolean Alps, here:

TAKING RESPONSIBILITY

WITH DIRECT TRADE

Our direct suppliers are our equal partners. The farmers who supply us with hay deliver it to us at rewarding conditions. That way we can ensure that the hay is harvested by hand, keeping traditional agriculture alive. An agriculture collective from Southern France supplies us with lavender. We are always in close contact with the farmers who grow the lavender with lots of love.

TAKING RESPONSIBILITY

WITH UPCYCLING

There is no planet B, and yet production processes tend to be very wasteful. By upcycling waste products, we are working to reverse that trend. We use leftovers from the food industry like spelts and sunflower seed hulls and use moss leftover from moss wall production. We combine them to create a unique look that is also good for our planet.

Did you know? Moss has moisture-regulating properties and has a positive effect on the indoor climate – even when processed.

TAKING RESPONSIBILITY

WITH CERTIFIED AGRICULTURE

We carefully select our raw materials like cornflowers and rose petals, which come from certified agriculture. This allows us to guarantee the consistent outstanding quality of our surfaces. We keep transport routes as short as possible and ensure good conditions for all those involved in the production of our raw materials.

Our most important suppliers: Our farmers

By working with the farmers of the Nature Park Kaunergrat, we receive our Alpine hay directly from our vicinity. 15 farmers from our region are doing the extraordinary and working the steep meadows to produce the precious raw material: species-rich hay with a delicate scent.

Creating your natural surface

It takes many small steps until the natural surfaces are ready to be sold. Using the hay surface WILDSPITZE as an example, we’ll outline the production process.

After the exhausting haymaking at an altitude of 1,700 to 2,000 m on the slopes of Tyrol’s highest mountain, Wildspitze, we check the quality of the material: How does the hay smell? Has it dried properly? How coarse are the plant fibres? Next, we weigh the hay, grind the long fibres, and select the best bits. Together with our ecological binding agent, the fibres are sieved onto the base material in several steps and processed at high temperatures and pressure. While this might sound relatively simple, the production process is quite complex since 40 to 100 parameters have to be taken into account each time depending on the recipe in order to ensure a consistent quality.
